- Sakshi Malik started taking wrestling training at the age of just 12.Here he practiced wrestling under the guidance of coach Dahiya. In his early days, Sakshi had to wrestle with boys to improve his wrestling skills.
- Sakshi Malik participated in the Junior World Championship in the year 2010 and entered the world of international wrestling.In this competition, She had won the bronze medal in the 58 kg freestyle event.After this, Sakshi Malik competed in Istanbul, Turkey. Made it to the 2016 Olympics by reaching the finals of the 58 kg category in the 2016 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament.the biggest hope of winning a medal for India in the 2016 Rio Olympics. But due to injury in the Olympics, she could not bring a medal. She lost to Russian wrestler Valeria Koblova in the quarterfinals. She then defeated Mongolian wrestler Purvedorgin Orkhon in her first match.After that, she faced Kyrgyz wrestler Aisulu Tynybekova for the bronze medal match. In this match, she created history by winning 8-5 and she became the first female wrestler of India to win an Olympic medal.
